The Machine Intelligence and Neural Discovery (MIND) Institute at Wits University has been awarded core funding of US$1 million by Google.org.
Led by Professor Benjamin Rosman—recently named in the ‘Thinkers’ category of TIME magazine’s TIME100 AI 2025—MIND is a powerhouse of AI research on the continent. This landmark investment will supercharge the Institute’s work, accelerating cutting-edge research and next-generation breakthroughs in both natural and artificial intelligence.
